Murphy, NC is a captive market

Ingles only real competition in Murphy is Walmart! I have expressed my concerns for over a year with Ingles corporate offices in Black Mountain, NC regarding their freezer cases failing to maintain frozen status! This is a widespread problem to which they admit, yet they continue to skirt the issue by endlessly pulling product and refreezing it in the back, and then restocking these antiquated consumer cases! You know something is wrong when products you attempted to buy are thawed out one day (frozen juices are liquid, vegetables and ravioli are soft as mush) and two days later they reappear frozen into a solid mass (stuck together, laden with ice crystals) and are in some instances now marked down! I cant imagine that this is happening in Ingles larger markets that have stiff competition for shopping dollars! So whats it going to take to get Ingles to respect the health and well being of its customers that currently have no other place to shop? Will it take the likes of a Publix or Kroger to come into the market to force an upgrade, or numerous illnesses or a death of a patron to be tied to shopping the freezer cases of Ingles?

Are they too cheap to hire package help.Trenton,Ga

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been shopping at Ingles for about 6 years. In that time i have realized that they must be too cheap to hire enough package help. The last time i went there, 11/9/2014. there were no package help to be found. My wife and i were bagging our our groceries, And the cashier told me It was 142 dollars, three times before i paid as i was bagging groceries. On my way out i took my advantage card of my keyring, gave it to the manager and said i was done with this place, Because they were too cheap to hire and package clerks.

Where do you expect the money to pay the baggers to come from? Do you want the price you pay for food to go up?

As the cost of food rises the stores can just continue to mark their prices up or look for ways to cut costs at the store to help keep your food prices lower. Most people would rather put their own groceries in a bag rather than paying higher prices to have someone do it for them.

Guest

Why don't you stop to actually ask a manager why there are no "baggers" instead of assuming you know everything. First.

They schedule based on a computer who keeps account of customer flow and how busy the store is around certain times and schedules accordingly. Also hours are limited and all based on sales from the previous year. The store has no control over the hours they are allowed. So instead of taking business and hours away from a store who has no control why don't you call their corporate offices, the people who can only do anything about anything and stop blaming someone that has no control.

Put yourself in someone else's shoes. And if you don't want to bag your own groceries, don't. The cashier will when she is finished with your transaction.

Remember. What goes around comes around.

Customers 1st regardless of payroll. Managers being hired these days are young immature and doesn't understand this concept!

The manager in this situation should be on the front line bagging.. I've been in this business a long time and it's getting worse and businesses are losing great employees as well as once loyal customers because of payroll issues and management that thinks they're are above doing clerks work! Before you tell me I don't know what I'm talking about..

I've been in this business over 20 years and a meat manager for 18 years and 5 of the 18 I was an area manager running meat deli and produce .. I'm fully aware of how the business works but I'm also aware if the lack of help that the store gets from store manager

Let me add and comment on your comment about computer based scheduling... yes the computer creates a schedule based on business but 90+% of the store managers adjust those schedules to cater his schedule!

I've seen csm's running the store u scan money orders western union and one cashier after 7 pm. But look at the schedule when the store mgr is working.

3 cashiers u scan book keeper n csm. Try and tell me I'm wrong!

Not all stores have baggers to bag the customer's groceries. Did it kill you to do it yourself?

Furthermore the employees that do bag groceries aren't called baggage help, they are called baggers.

One more thing some people do prefer to bag their own groceries because they want them bagged a certain way. Being this must have been going on for some time at that particular store, why have you kept going back?

Pardon me I made an error in my previous reply I should have said "package" help instead of "baggage" help.

Horrible Bosses

I worked in the bakery dept. at the Clemson Ingles.

Angie was my Bakery mngr and Travis was my store mngr. I've been insulted, discriminated against, humiliated and embarrassed in front of co-workers and customers in the front of the store by Travis and in front of other co-workers By Angie at separate times. I've been called names and made a point of humor by management. I am a married woman and have been repeatedly ask for sexual encounters by other management in this store and when I have complained to the store manager (Travis) nothing was ever done about it.

I also know of others who have complained about the same problems from the same employee and still nothing has been done. My experience working at Ingles was nothing more then a disappointment and a insult. I no longer work for the Ingles because of all the bullying and insults by management, but while I did, I always made sure to NEVER call in and to always be there on time, every day even early some days. If someone else from the bakery was unable to come in, I would always be willing to help and come in on my days off.

Even if it was a part of the bakery that I wasn't trained in, I still came in, learned and preformed that job without pay increase or issue. I have always been willing to help.

For ingles management team to treat me and other employees the ways that they did and continue to do is completely unacceptable. I hate that its come to this but if no one contacts me about these issues, I have considered contacting the news for help also filing harassment and discrimination charges along with various other offences.

Great JoJo, You can contact me through my email if you would like its, nettasup@***.com

I hope to hear from you soon

What does the fact that you are a married woman have to do with anything. More than likely the employee that you claim wanted sexual favors from you, was joking and your best response would have been to tell him "in your dreams." Instead you more than likely got all indignant and when a woman does that it encourages the person doing the harassment.

No matter where you work there will always be somebody like that and there will also be managers that have their favorites. You sound like you think you were the best employee there and I'm sure you were no more than average. I would think if all of this was really going on, you would be embarrassed to death to be on the news with it. Just think of all the people that will see it and be pointing at you in public.

I don't see anything in you complaint that could be considered bullying. I realize people now consider teasing and name calling, etc. bullying. Bullying used to be if a bigger kid beat the *** out of a smaller kid or if a bunch of kids beat up on a smaller kid.

As far as the other employees that you say feel the same way that you do, it is probably because you have instigated things. No matter where you work there will be problems.

Anyone who has ever worked for Ingles know the long rebuttal above is either #1 one of the managers involved, #2 a friend of one of the people involved, #3 the merchandiser for this store, or #4 someone from corporate in Black Mountain. Sexual harrassment runs rampant in almost all Ingles stores.

It is still run by the "good old boys" up at corporate... Or as employees call it "God's country".

And employees sleeping with each other is nothing new, and most of them are married. When will people learn..don't *** where you eat.

Travis is a great guy and does is job well. Anyone who complains and it is a legit is always taken seriously.

If you are just an ignorance person who is a complainer about every thing its hard to take your serious.

You may way to take yourself serious and your selfish self esteem before you complain.

Or yet become a manager yourself and see how things really before you judge some or there experience.

Hot Bar Review

I shop singles atleast 4 times a week. Convenient to my home. The hot/cold bar is rarely fresh. I live alone and its easier/cheaper for me to grab something after/before work. I know I am not the only customer that feels this way because I hear the other customers complaining also. Will you please take care of this matter. There are other grocery chains.

Ingles Markets - Manager Review

I shop at the Blue Ridge GA Ingles and have since they first opened. I am very unhappy that the manager doesn't keep sale items stocked!

And the sigcaps(card readers) are so outdated that I have trouble using debit or credit card. A few employees will type in the cards. But most of the younger ones just say sorry.

Therefore I have to go somewhere else to shop. I really love Ingles Markets but this is becoming very inconvenient.

you don't know the grocery business the store manager does not have complete say so of sale items most are designed to get you in the door by the people above the manager, when items are on sale you need to go that day, don't expect items to last more than about three days.

Ingles Markets - Manager Review

I had went to the carrollton location and I had went in to finish my grocery shopping I got there 30 min before they closed. I was told by what I assumed was a manager that I needed to leave if I wasn't making a purchase because they were closing in 15 min. Are you *** kidding me? I asked him for his name and he would not give it to me and I heard him threaten to write up the clerk if she told me what his name was. I'm done with that store but that manager hasn't heard the last from me.

Yes the managers actions were very uncalled for a rude. But as were yours.

Why go somewhere right before they are closing and take your time? That's just as rude.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-898874

You're an ***. A customer is not an wrong for shopping 30 min before closing.

Close at 11 means customer service till 11. The manager is wrong!

If my memory serves me right Ingles no longer allows managers to announce store closing telling customers to make final selections. You are probably the reason why customers choose to shop elsewhere.

Laura Lynn grape lid almost impossible to open

You almost need a pipe wrench to open a 64 oz. Laura Lynn 100% juice blend grape juice bottle. The vendor for these bottles needs to be notified about how difficult it is to open these bottles It doesn't take 100 words to identify this problem. Just try it yourself. Ingles Markets - Manager Review from Hendersonville, North Carolina

The produce manager Keith is rude and impolite. He was bothered by my asking a question and had the rudest tone. He was seen reprimanding an employee infront of customers which I think is very unprofessional. The manager this Ingles employed before him was much nicer. I shop at ingles for the friendly faces and convenience. It has a real family feel. Keith has ruined this experience for me. I am unhappy with the service he has provided on multiple occasions and disappointed in the way he handles things as a manager.
